More load shedding changes for the week – here’s the latest schedule
Power utility Eskom has made more changes to its load shedding schedule, continuing the haphazard pattern of suddenly shifting stages in line with the instability of the grid.
The group said that load shedding will now drop to stage 2 from 09h00 on Tuesday (5 December) before ramping back up to stage 3 at 16h00.
Stage 3 load shedding will continue until 16h00 on Wednesday; thereafter, stage 4 load shedding will be implemented from 16h00 until 05h00, followed by stage 3 until 16h00 on Friday.
The utility said that the downgrade is due to improved generation capacity and adequate emergency reserves.
The group previously communicated a rotation between stage 3 and stage 4 for the rest of the week.
Tuesday, 5 December
- Stage 2: 09h00 to 16h00
- Stage 3: 16h00 to 00h00
Wednesday, 6 December
- Stage 3: 00h00 to16h00
- Stage 4: 16h00 to 00h00

- Stage 3: 05h00 to 00h00

Given the sudden changes made to load shedding schedules over the past few weeks, South Africans should expect more changes as they happen.
