Big change coming to WhatsApp

 ·17 Oct 2022

Mobile messaging service WhatsApp has launched a beta version of its premium subscription service for business users.

WABetaInfo first revealed that WhatsApp was working on a subscription service with some value-added features for WhatsApp for Business in May 2022.

Through the new services, businesses will be able to create a custom short link that directs customers to a landing page or a WhatsApp chat.

“As your small business grows, you need more powerful tools to help it thrive. WhatsApp Business Premium tools are optional paid features that help you run your business even more efficiently and attract more customers,” said WhatsApp.

While the WhatsApp Business app and its existing tools will remain free, a monthly subscription to Premium gives you access to advanced tools that can support your growth, the group said.

Currently, WhatsApp offers the following Premium tools:

  • A WhatsApp web page, which gives your business a professional web presence and helps customers easily discover and connect with your business.
  • Multi-agent support for up to 10 devices and chat assignment, which allows multiple agents to communicate with customers from a single business account.

Since the functionality is still in beta, the pricing details and official launch date of the new subscription service have not been released., while this new feature is currently only available for some beta testers in certain countries.

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time, said WhatsApp. “If you have the option to try WhatsApp Business Premium for free, you will not be charged until after 30 days. Cancel your subscription before your trial ends to avoid being charged.”
