New load shedding schedules for Gauteng

Power utility Eskom says that new load shedding blocks and schedules have been implemented in Gauteng.

Effective from Monday, 6 November, Eskom in Gauteng has implemented new load shedding blocks across the province.

The change affects all Eskom and municipal customers load shed directly by the power utility in Gauteng.

The revised blocks can be accessed on Eskom’s website, or on municipal websites, it said.

“The alteration in the blocks and schedules follows the move by Eskom to hand over load shedding operations to City Power for most of its areas of supply which were previously load shed by Eskom,” the utility said.

City Power took over the load shedding of these areas effective 6 November.

Due to the configuration of the network and other technical complexities, Eskom said that certain City Power customers will still be tied to Eskom’s load shedding operations. This includes customers in:

• Tshepisong
• Lufhereng (Roodepoort)
• Hoodland
• Maroeladal
• Morningside
• Riverclub
• Dainfern
• Bloubosrand
• Waterford Estate
• Riverbend
• Kyasands
• Bellairspark (Randburg)
• Halfway House
• Halfway Gardens
• Vorna Valley
• Willowway (Midrand)
• Marlboro Transit Camp (Alexandra)

The schedule for these customers is available on City Power’s website.

“The two entities will keep exploring technical solutions that will enable City Power to take over the load shedding operations of its remaining customers.

“City Power has its processes, systems and technical capacity in place to take over the added load shedding operations as part of the new schedule,” Eskom said.

City Power confirmed that new schedules have been put into effect, but acknowledged some early technical issues that saw some customers not being shed when they were supposed to and other being shed longer than scheduled.

The utility said it is working on correcting the errors and getting all customers onto the new schedules.
