Importance of paying fines

With the recent approval of the AARTO Act and the expected nationwide rollout of a driving demerit system next year, paying your fines on time has never been more essential.

When the demerit system is live, you will accrue demerit points for each traffic infringement, and you will receive extra demerit points if you fail to pay your fines.

Once you reach 15 demerit points, your driver’s licence will be suspended – effectively banning you from using your motor vehicle.

The best way to avoid this is to pay your fines on time – and Fines SA helps you do this without you needing to interact directly with your municipality.
