Online retailer Takealot says it will be bringing back its Blue Dot Sale for Black Friday 2023, as well as its 24-hour ‘live shopping’ experience on the day – with ‘early access’ sales going live a few days before.

The Blue Dot Sale will kick off at one minute past midnight on Black Friday – 24 November 2023 – and will carry over the weekend through to “Takealot Tuesday” on 28 November.

While the Blue Dot Sale aims to add new deals daily, covering both Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the retailer said that Takealot Tuesday will highlight local businesses trading on the Takealot Marketplace.

The group said that the 2023 sale will offer savings of up to 50% on thousands of deals, including TVs, kitchen appliances, large appliances (washing machines, fridges, dishwashers ), beauty, sport, toys and bulk household essentials.

Early Access to the Blue Dot Sale will run from the 19th – 23rd November.

It will also be offering a “24-hour Black Friday shopping experience” again on the day.

This has become a regular feature for Black Friday on Takealot, where it will offer product launches and exclusive deals on livestreams across social media.

“This year’s 24-hour Black Friday live shopping marathon promises giveaways, extra special guests and big deals on South Africa’s favourite brands,” it said.

“Plus, the event will be streamed simultaneously across Facebook and Instagram – a first for Black Friday in South Africa.”

The live shopping marathon kicks off just before midnight.

Takealot said that a another first will be offering the Blue Dot Sale deals on TakealotNOW, its on-
demand delivery service featured on the MrD app.

It said available deals have been curated based on what South Africans need and want most in the soonest possible amount of time, which should allow for deliveries to the door “within minutes”.

TakealotNOW Blue Dot Sale deals will be released at 22h00 on Thursday 23 November, just before Black
Friday.

TakealotNOW deals will be restricted to Joburg and Cape Town:

  • Cape Town: Durbanville, Bellville, Brackenfell, Kraaifontein, Kuilsriver and Parow
