Game unveils incredible PlayStation 5 Black Friday deal – with a catch

 ·22 Nov 2023

Massmart-owned retailer Game has announced that it will be offering a PlayStation 5 console for R6,499 on Black Friday.

However, the deal is only available online, and only to ten shoppers.

The retailer will go live with the deal after a second after midnight on Black Friday (24 November), where the first ten customers – the quickest to pull the trigger – can use a special code to receive the discount.

The code will be published on the group’s social media channels.

“This will be limited to one console per customer and one code checkout to ensure a fair chance to all ten shoppers with the quickest fingers,” the group said.

Katherine Madley, Massmart’s Vice President of Marketing said that the PlayStation 5 console continues to be in high demand in Game stores.

The console currently has a retail price of R13,799, but PlayStation itself is running a Black Friday promotion that has marked it down at various retailers to R11,999 – a discount of 13%.

The Game promotion takes another 46% off the already discounted price for ten customers. Overall, it is more than 50% off the retail price.

Other Black Friday shoppers who want in on a PlayStation 5 console – but miss out on the Game deal – can consider FNB, which will be offering a the console on contract at R185 over 36 months.

This will total R6,660.

However, like Game, this deal is also in limited quantity – to celebrate the bank’s 185th birthday, only 185 units will be available at this price.
